Signature Vegan Protein Blend

Getting enough protein isn’t as difficult for vegans as it perhaps once was, as there are plenty of vegetables and vegan foods readily available out there that contain protein. However, it’s getting all of the protein that your body needs that is a challenge.

Proteins are made up of amino acids - nine of which are essential, which means they can't be made by the human body, we need to get them from food. It’s important to know that proteins from animal products usually contain all of the nine essential amino acids, however there isn’t a single traditional plant-based source available that contains all nine in quantities that are comparable to animal proteins.

When we founded EXALT it was our first aim to create real food that is protein-rich and conveniently bottled - made from only the finest ingredients. We soon developed our signature protein blend and began working on creating a vegan version.

Why our dietitian likes it

Ro Huntriss

I have been vegetarian for over 20 years and I’m a strong advocate for the inclusion of plant-based products within the diet for many reasons including significant environmental benefits. I understand how challenging it can be to get an optimal blend of essential amino acids from plant-based proteins but the EXALT Vegan Protein has done that for us, whilst achieving a tasty flavour, which you don’t always find with other vegan proteins. Even if you don’t eat plant-based all the time, having some emphasis on plant-based dietary products will bring several benefits to you and the planet.

Fitness expert's opinion

Mckenzi Sager

It is important to mix protein sources to prevent intolerance to any one variety. Training, whether its bodybuilding or specific training for an event often involves a lot of food repetition. Mixing up protein sources by adding a plant-based protein is a good way of reducing the chances of an intolerance. I can think of several clients and PT’s alike who have issues with the digestibility of diary protein so vegan is a good option.

When using it myself I look for the highest quality, best tasting ingredients preferably with mixed plant sources for further diversity. Supplements and training related foods often don’t taste great. Vegan proteins are no exception, often tasting chalky or grainy. EXALT’s is the best of a bad bunch and tastes surprisingly good.

Introducing our signature vegan protein blend

Unlike some of the “earthier” tasting blends out there, we developed a recipe that was not only favourable for its performance abilities, but also taste. However you decide to have it; the combination of pea protein, brown rice protein will do the job.

Highest quality ingredients

Totally natural. No freaky stuff

Created by our team of experts

This blend of protein sources contains all of the 9 ‘essential’ amino acids which cannot be synthesised by the body, these ensure the body can repair and grow muscle and provide sustained energy throughout the day.

No-expense-spared ingredients

Our signature dual-release vegan protein blend is flavoured with natural no-expense-spared luxurious ingredients such as Madagascan vanilla & organic raw Cacao from the Congo. This is then blended with the two vegan protein sources.

We then add a touch of ground dates, apple fruit powder and low-GI organic unrefined coconut nectar for a little sweetness.

Combined, these ingredients deliver a natural-tasting luxurious creamy vanilla / chocolate flavour.

Like our signature diary-based protein protein, we have sourced only the finest ingredients and have mixed high-quality, plant-based protein from multiple sources to provide not only a varied amino acid profile, but also equally as importantly an exceptional-tasting blend. Once again we have adopted a tri-blend methodology, choosing each protein source based on taste and performance characteristics.

Why we made it

Whilst the Founders of EXALT, Charlie & Dan not vegans themselves, we have always supplemented our regular diary-based protein (which as you know we have been generally unimpressed with) alongside plant-based proteins in order to achieve a balanced protein intake. However, much of the innovation as it relates to both taste and performance has been undertaken on the more established diary-based protein market leaving those wanting a great plant-based protein somewhat lacking.

EXALT’s signature vegan blend does not leave you lacking. We have spent the same amount of time (and money) developing what we consider to be a truly great-tasting protein blend suitable for vegans and non-vegans alike.

What makes it special?

Powered By Nature

Our signature vegan protein blend is formulated using a combination of protein sources to provide a complete protein. The combination of different protein sources allows us to create a complete amino acid profile and stay true to the principles of a balanced diet. We avoid soy since it often contains phytoestrogen, which is suspected of interfering with natural hormone levels.

Pea Protein

Pea protein is thought to have a fast-intermediate digestion time, with the absorption period lasting for up to eight hours, with an approximate digestion rate of 2.4-3.4 grams per hour. Research suggests that pea protein provides similar results to milk protein when considering body composition, muscle thickness and strength.

Brown Rice Protein

The absorption period for brown rice protein tends to be steady, providing a consistent release of amino acids over several hours. Studies show that brown rice protein can be just as effective as whey protein in supporting muscle growth, body composition, and recovery when consumed as part of a balanced diet and exercise regimen.

Together, our protein blend provide a strong essential amino acid profile with good digestibility, collectively forming a complete protein, perfect for muscle protein synthesis and building and repairing tissues within the body.

Our flavours

We have a real chip on our shoulder about flavour (or lack thereof). In fact, it was a frustration with the lack of healthy, flavourful, convenient and protein-packed options out there that spurred us on to found EXALT in the first place.

That’s why we pride ourselves on being able to offer a range of products that not only pack a nutritional punch, but that also deliver above and beyond expectations when it comes to flavour.

We’ve worked with taste experts from Green & Blacks across our entire range. Check out some of our vegan protein blend flavours below.

Fitness expert's opinion

Mckenzi Sager

The three proteins used in the EXALT vegan protein provide a strong complementary amino acid profile ensuring you can get the most out of the blend in terms of health and performance benefits. This blend will help to manage your hunger and satiety whilst helping to manage your weight. The plant-based blend offers a high-quality vegan alternative to the EXALT milk-based Protein Combination.

“The natural sweeteners and flavours used in the EXALT Vegan Protein Blend have been chosen to protect and promote health, whilst not compromising on flavour. Cacao and vanilla both exhibit health-promoting properties, and including natural, non-nutritive sweeteners means we can still enjoy that sweet flavour whilst benefiting from a reduced sugar and calorie intake.”
